Comments: Dear Michael:

Not being able to get to NYC very often, I am no authority on Broadway shows, but I did come up to see you in two performances of DOTV and am afraid I don't remember too much about it because I was in a trance just watching you perform and listening to your beautiful, powerful voice.

The show was good enough those nights to rate raving, standng ovations. I just do not understand self-appointed critics. They took your show down, no doubt about it.

I also remember that at the time Phantom was playing in NYC, Hal Prince stated in an interview that it was an impossibility to mount a musical in NY. You stated in a couple of interviews that a successful show might come along once in a lifetime for an actor and you were lucky to get one. And what a success you were! You had ladies swooning and longing to be with you forever and only seeing your mask, your expressive body language and hearing your marvelous voice. You made the show, caused it to be voted the best theatrical show of all time (AL-W did help you with the score), and no one will ever forget the show or you.

If the snow allows, I will be in NYC for your birthday bash at the Crowne and will be thrilled to see DOTV again and hope to get to speak to you. I am "Totally Devoted To You."

Please come back to us after your deserved vacation.

Margaret Ketchie

Comments: We had the privilege of seeing DOTV twice during Thanksgiving weekend, once from the front row, thanks to the MCIFA. The show was fabulous, and we had a great time interacting with the undead by virtue of our proximity to the stage.

Kudos to the cast, orchestra and crew on a job well done. To Michael, we love you dearly. Next stop: Phantom...The Movie!

Hugs, Jane and Maureen

Comments: We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Vampires when we were in NYC last October during premier and thought it was a great new show. The costumes were colorful, music upbeat, and the jokes hilarious, only wished Michael would have sung more. I have been a Michael fan for years, and besides seeing him in EFX, Phantom and on tour, I have all his music. Even had a friend get me a copy of his autobiography when it was first released in England. I don't know why the critics had to be so mean, as we were part of the standing ovation and wished we would have had time in the city to see the show again. Good luck to all of you, and I do hope Michael will not take so long to play in a show again. Also think someone could convience Andrew that Michael is not too old to play the Phantom in the movie, since when does that character have to be young? Michael was meant for that part.

Comments: Dear Michael, Very sad to hear about the show's closing, but as my maternal grandma used to say, "Every closed door opens a new one." Sorry I never got the tickets to see "DOTV". Your last note to me wishing my parents a happy anniversary was very special but you are special and one of a kind. The invite is still open for tea (Earl Gray or Tetley?) and those same biscuits made for you years ago during your run in "POTO".

Always love, Gail

Comments: Michael, if you were a mountain, you'd be Mt. Everest! Words can NEVER completely describe this talented, compassionate, wonderful man! (And CHARMING, too!) There aren't enough adjectives in the world to applaud you enough - not only for your tremendous skills as a professional singer/actor, but more importantly, for your kindness and thoughtfulness toward the charities you sponsor. As I've written to you before, Mr. Crawford, your true riches are being stored up in Heaven for all the good you've done in this crazy world we live in. I thank you and God for sharing yourself so freely with the public - your voice literally brings me to my knees. I pray for you & the hurting/sick children of this world I know you love so much. I also thank God for the glory you have brought to the Lord by raising up His name in the songs you sing so beautifully! I pray God's blessings on you that your life & voice only strengthen for many years to come. I am not one who follows stars, but what I discern about you is absolutely Heavenly - you're truly a Spirit-filled Angel of Music. I feel privileged to become a member of the MCIFA. Thank you, too, for opening your heart this way to your fans. Mr. Crawford, I wish you much success in your latest endeavor, "Dance of the Vampires" -and WELCOME BACK to Broadway!!! (Where you belong!) :-) Regardless of what the critics have said, after seeing the play myself, it is meant to be taken in total fun. It was a pleasurable experience (although painfully loud at times). It's like this, the reviews came from bad critics! The general public, which is who the show is for, is LOVING DOTV - I haven't heard anything negative from the audience. And that is where the "rubber meets the road"! Many Blessings and Happy Christmas to you and your loved ones, Mr. Crawford! Much Love to you, Lisa :-)

Comments: Well, i've been silently fuming all day, having read the first of the reviews this morning, and things just don't seem to have improved during the day, so now it's my turn to express an opinion.

I'm beginning to wonder whether there's a secret conspiracy amongst critics to slam Dance Of The Vampires regardless of it's real quality.

It seems to me that Michael couldn't win either way. He expressed a desire to move away from the darker side of Von Krolock's character to avoid criticism for returning to the stage as the same character, only with bigger teeth (or words to that effect), so he plays it more comically, and STILL the critics will not be satisfied; they claim it's a mockery of Phantom anyway. And so, i ask myself, if he'd played it 'gothic' as they seem to think he should, what would they have said? I can only begin to imagine!!! Like i said, a no win situation.

Also, i've heard it said that his performance during Confession Of A Vampire lacks depth and expression. I find this very hard to believe. From all that i've seen, heard and read, Mr Crawford is a dedicated performer, who lives the role he is playing, and seeks perfection in every look, every gesture, every tone. He seems a man who takes great pride in giving his all in a performance, and yet we're expected to believe that during this song he just stood, expressionless on the stage. I don't believe it for a minute.

Okay, the last point i need to raise here, the comparisons with Phantom, and i don't mean in characters. I've heard that scenes from Dance echo scenes from Phantom, namely, the grand staircase at the beginning of Act 2 (compared to the one used in Masquerade), and the Draw Bridge at the conclusion of the first act (this is pretty odd, they compare this to the Chandelier in Phantom!!!). I feel that the critics would have Phantom be the final nail in Von Krolock's coffin, with no real cause at all. The two are completely different, and why any comparison should be drawn at all is beyond me!

Finally (yes, i am getting close to the end) some comments i've read are just completely ignorant and unfeeling, people should think before they write such rubbish. I'm sure it would be different if they were on the receiving end of such insulting comments.

I don't care what they say, i'm sure this show will go on to be a great success and a massive hit for all concerned. I would like to take this chance to wish the entire cast and crew the very best of luck for the future!!

Michael, you're still the best and always will be. You're a true inspiration to myself and many other people all around the world, and I hope that your success continues

Sincerely

Kate (who's glad to get all this out in the open, even though she'd still REALLY annoyed!!)

p.s. at least the general preoccupation with Phantom confirms what the majority of us have known all along, that there's only one man who should be cast as the Phantom if the movie ever becomes a reality.

Michael - You truly are my Angel of Music

Comments: Sadly DotV got some really bad reviews, although Michael was in most cases not bashed. Perhaps the critiquers on Broadway just have a different taste in musicals. Overall they did not like this musical right from the start. I will go and see it anyway because Michael is a wonderful performer and the show is worth it.

Cu, Lilly
