Comments: I heard poor Michael has a flu. I hope that he feels better. I'll pray for him. By the way, how come he didn't play one of the Paris Opera House owners, in the movie of PHANTOM? He'd been wonderful.

Comments: MR. CRAWFORD!!! U HAVE TO READ THIS!!! im was planning to write you a letter... but i guess this will have to do (since no one will let out your address). i am only fourteen years old, but my mom has been playing the Phantom of the Opera in her car since i was a baby, so i grew up hearing your voice. My mom bought Hello Dolly and i loved your character the best! I recognized the voice and i finally figured it out after a few years that the phantom and "cornelius" were the same person..you. i saw the San Francisco performance of Phantom of the Opera (5-6 times), the movie, along with the Tribute to Andrew Loyd Webber at the Luther Burbank center in Santa Rosa, California, but yet i was still disappointed... none of the phantoms could sound as great as you. Although i have the soundtrack to listen to and Hello dolly to watch to see and hear you at the same time, i still feel sorrow for never being able to see you sing and perform the Phantom... ever... Just as i came to this website, i found out that you were ill... i do wish you the best of health, because i guess some part of me is hoping that you would re-do the phantom movie with you in it instead of... um... sorry but i don't know the other guy's name... ANYWAY.... i know this will never happen... but i just really wanted you to know how much i enjoy your voice and that no one could EVER play the phantom as well as you...

Comments: I am going to see A Woman In White on Saturday 19th February and am very disappointed to hear that you won't be able to appear. I have been a fan of yours ever since seeing Barnum on TV at the age of six!

I hope you get well soon and I promise I won't throw anything at Michael Ball, well nothing too heavy anyway!

Many thanks for being so entertaining,

Melanie

Comments: I think you couldn't guess that there's a fan of you from Hong Kong. I first heard you sing, again, in the original London cast recording of The Phantom of the Opera. But I really become a fan after the 'miscasted' flim version of it and I found that you're just something more than Phantom.

It's hard for me to collect your recordings in Hong Kong. But I luckily find some of these, and also the original cast recording of The Woman in White, because it is the most recent production of (Sir) Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I wish you can get well soon and I will be able to see you on stage in May when I go to London for my graduation tour.

Comments: Hi Michael,

Came to London on 19th January to see Phantom of the Opera for the 5th time and as it was my birthday (as well as yours) I went along to the stage door at the Palace theatre to wish you many happy returns.

I was so sorry to learn that you were ill and just wanted to wish to a speedy recovery.

I also had a photograph of you and me that I wanted you to sign, it was taken outside the stage door of the Majestic Theatre in New York when you kindly signed my programme.

Hope you are back in Woman in White in April when hopefully I can get my photo signed.

Love you always Jackie xx

Comments: Hello Michael, I hope you do not find it rude of me to call you by your first name, though some may argue that I should show respect (which I highly do) and call you Mr. Crawford, either one works I figure. =)

Sadly to say, I too saw the Phantom movie of 2005... highly insulting to both millions of beloved fans, and of yourself. To have such a weak, insecure man portray your key character, is just beyond words in my eyes. As many people have said, no one can play the phantom like you can, and I'll agree with them once more. I don't know if you get tired of hearing the same thing about the movie over and over, because I know you are a little upset at the matter, like we all are, so I shall only make it a small part in my entry to you.

I have seen The Phantom of the Opera twice in my lifetime, and each time I went to go witness it, I love it because I know whoever plays the phantom's role has seen you and is trying to model your performance. So in each phantom show, there is always, and will always be a little part of you in each phantom.

I was so happy to see you working in London with The Lady in White, I saw a banner for it when I was visiting there and was just so glad to see you still showing and expressing your talents to many, many audiences to come. Though I was highly, and so greatly upset that I didn't get to see it, because it didn't open up till the next year. Hehe, well, I will honestly try to get down there again and witness a excellent performance from you and the rest of the cast.

Heh, I have already made this letter long enough so I think maybe I should close it before you get a little weary of all the type I've done. Please keep up your great work, you are loved and cherished by millions of people all over the world, your voice has gone far deeper than the natural ears, it has gone to souls and to hearts, and there it shall stay forever... at least that how it is with me. But I know many people say that to you as well. I know I am just another note in the millions you get, but I hope in some small way, you understand what I am trying to say about you....

Thank you so much... for all you have given us, we could never repay you enough!

-Lacey

Comments: Dear Michael:

My late mom and I saw Phantom at the Majestic in 1988. I had the good fortune of working for a library, and you allowed me and my dear mother to come backstage to watch Tiffany Hicks apply the makeup and you graciously signed many items we put in a Phantom display at the library. Needless to say, I adored and still adore the Phantom, and listen to the CD with Sarah Brightman all the time. Now, my 5 year old is obsessed and loves to listen to the CD, and would love to see you live. I told her, as seeing the stage Phantom a few times, that it was an exhilirating experience, and one which will not be seen again. Anyhow, saw the movie, and oh, well. Sir Andrew made a brutal error not casting you, in what I'd heard for years was your role when the film would be made. How wonderful it would have been to have had your brilliant role captured on film. Does Webber know his blunder. Otherwise, good health to you, and we hope to again see you onstage.

Comments: ABOUT THE PHANTOM MOVIE Where is the PASSION? Where is the LOVE? Where is the PAIN? Where is the MAGIC? Where is MICHAEL CRAWFORD?

Oh Mr. A.L. Webber, how could you disappoint so many fans? How could you rob the archives of an UNFORGETABLE MASTERPIECE, had Mr. Crawford played as the Phantom? But most of all, how could you deny that part to the only man who deserved to play it? The man who gave his blood, sweat and tears to create and portray the character. The one and only true Phantom--MICHAEL CRAWFORD. Allow me to remind you of the letter I send you at the beginning of 2004. A letter that was redirected and traveled half way around the world before reaching your office in London. In that letter, I asked you to please tell Mr. Crawford to get himself a new pair of PHANTOM BOOTS and start making THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT. All in vain? Or maybe not meant to be?

I also told you that if you ever wanted SOME MAGIC for your songs or plays to please remember that there is only one man--Mr. MAGIC himself--MICHAEL CRAWFORD.

I am glad Mr. Crawford is in your new musical. {please thank your assistant, Kate Losowsky, for her short letter to me about that } I am sure that every one who saw and will see THE WOMAN IN WHITE has felt and will feel the MAGIC that only Mr. Crawford can create.

Mr. Webber, I do not know if you will ever be able to right the wrong you inflicted on Mr. Crawford--but, I for one can see that you are at least trying, in a small although silent way, to set things right. I commend you for that and hope that this is just the beginning of a respectful working relationship between two phenomenal GENIUSES.

Hi Mr. Crawford, wishing you all the best always.

erik-a

Comments: I just saw the movie "Phantom of the Opera" and am in shock why Michael Crawford was not picked for the role. I have seen Michael on stage and visualized easily how he could move the role from stage to the big screen. Only his acting and singing brings everything emotional and believable the role requires. It is all our lost Michael - too bad they did not wish a movie to last a long time as a classic!
