It took many years to put together that YOU were THE Phantom...the "light went on" while I was listening to one of your CD's where you tell the story of meeting Gene Kelly, and of the day you spent showering and shaving, and moving furniture...quite an amusing tale! Recently I received a flyer for one of the local Arts center. I, of course, would love to be there to see you, however the tickets are given on a preferred basis to members and then last on the totem pole is the general public...any chance you might be scheduling a concert at a more public Southern California venue where the common folk can listen? I am inspired to do the same role as you in the phantom of the opera, when i play that role (if i manage to pass the audition) i will do it for you and i will remember you every line of the way. I found you voice so incredibly gob smacking you really did blow me out on how good you could sing. One day if i become famous i should like to meet you or like to say i have met you. | Comments: | If these really are ever read by "the man," Michael Crawford, I just want you to know that your performance in Phantom of the Opera became a favorite of all five of our children back when they were quite small. The first stage of this happened when my wife and I left our FOUR children at that time, then between the ages of 5 and 10, for a week for a much needed break. The young couple who agreed to live at our house and watch over them were fans and played the Phantom CDs for them. They were immediately taken and have had a strong love of the show ever since. Later, they passed this love on to our now 15-year-old son. They have all seen the movie now and some the live show, though, unfortunately not the one you were in and have enjoyed it, but unanimously agree that it "just doesn't measure up" to your performance. I don't think anyone ever will. It's amazing that with all the rowdy, rock, etc., music they all like, that this show, they all agree, is the best thing ever. All three of our daughters have since taken up singing to some degree and are quite talented. One is now enjoying majoring in music all, in part, because of "the Angel of Music." Thank you for sharing your talents over the years. Having been a minor perfomer myself in the San Diego Youth Symphony and elsewhere, I can imagine what hard work it is. Although I have been a classical music fan since I was small, and have always enjoyed (especially) the best of the musical comedies and tragedies, I had never seen "Hello Dolly" until our music-major daughter came running in to tell me that I HAD to see you in your role in the movie. What a joy and what a contrast! Again, THANK YOU! |
